The Barshop JCC will present a screening of Avi Liberman’s documentary, Land of Milk and Funny, at the JCC in the Holzman Auditorium Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.
Land of Milk and Funny tells the story of an American Jewish comedian bringing his colleagues to the Jewish homeland to lift spirits and raise funds for a great cause.
Described by The Times of Israel as “both sidesplitting and moving,” this hilarious and revealing film details stand-up comedian Avi Liberman’s ongoing quest to bring top-tier American comedy to Israeli audiences. As they tour and perform across the country, some are deeply affected, overcome by the spiritual significance of Biblical and historic sites; others are wildly irreverent. The hilarious Craig Robinson memorably recounts his failed attempts to pick up girls in Hebrew.
Born in Israel, raised in Texas, Liberman’s tours feature 30 renowned comedians (i.e., Gary Gulman, Craig Robinson, Ray Wood Jr., Dan Naturman) doing 100 shows, selling over 20,000 tickets for charity.
Tickets for the screening are $8 (online), $9 (phone/in-person), and $10 (at the door). To purchase tickets or learn more about the film, visit www.jccsanantonio.org/filmevents or call (210) 302-6820.
