The Captain Planet Foundation, a national organization dedicated to funding educational programs that give students hands-on, project-driven learning experiences with real environmental outcomes, recently awarded the Shmuel Bass Torah Academy of San Antonio (TASA) with an Environmental Education Grant. As part of the recognition, TASA was awarded an ecoSTEM Earth Kit, which includes supplies for 32 students over multiple grade levels. TASA will use these kits as part of its Environmental Project Based Learning STEM and Garden Project, where students conduct experiments, create solutions to engineering challenges, and implement environmental stewardship projects to solve real-world problems.
“We are so impressed with the project brought to us by Shmuel Bass Torah Academy of San Antonio,” says Leesa Carter, Executive Director of the Foundation. “We are honored to play a part in funding its implementation and wish Shmuel Bass Torah Academy of San Antonio great success on this important project. It is our hope that our combined efforts to educate, empower, involve and invest in today’s youth will cultivate a better tomorrow for everyone.”
“The funding of the Captain Planet Environmental Education Grant shows the ongoing dedication and push for excellence in education by our TASA teachers,” says Howard S. Feinberg, TASA Board President. “TASA’s Board of Directors looks forward to witnessing, first hand, the accelerated and continual learning of this ecoSTEM project and all of its components.”
