PJ Library ends summer 2019 with special events

PJ Library Committee Member and event hostess Stefanie Goldberg and survivor Rose Williams shared their family stories during the evening.

PJ Library San Antonio celebrated the end of summer with two special events. On Sunday, Aug. 25, fifteen families came together to share in the excitement of back to school with one last swimming party, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of San Antonio and PJ Library, at the Oak Meadow Swim Club. This event included lunch, lots of splashing, and a special Reggio-inspired sea shell painting project.  Families came together during a pool break to enjoy the story of Sammy Spider’s First Day of School. The venue served as the perfect place to see old friends after the summer and make new friends for the school year.

Holocaust Memorial Museum commission member and docent Varda Ratner led guests on a guided tour of the museum.

The Holocaust Memorial Museum also hosted PJ Library parents for a Parent’s Night Out at the Museum. The event featured the stories of survivor Rose Williams and event chair and PJ Library committee member Stefanie Goldberg. Leading docent and Holocaust Commission member, Varda Ratner, began the evening with a docent-guided tour of the museum.  Parents learned more about the survivor stories and, in turn, how to teach our children to never allow these atrocities to occur again. Over thirty PJ Library parents and grandparents attended the evening and joined the over 16,000 annual visitors to the Holocaust Museum of San Antonio. Everyone was able to view new exhibitions and see the connections between the myriad of San Antonio survivor family photos located in the museum.

PJ Library committee leaders engaged with a night out and were able to learn together in the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio.
