Reproductive Freedom from a Jewish Values Perspective
January 23, 2023
Three years ago, the National Council of Jewish Women launched Repro Shabbat to highlight Reform Judaism’s support for reproductive freedom.
Repro Shabbat now takes place annually on the Shabbat when we read Parashat Mishpatim, the Torah portion containing the verses that are cited as the basis for Reform Judaism’s approach to reproductive health, rights, and justice.
Many Jewish congregations across the country will be celebrating Repro Shabbat the weekend of February 17-18.
The San Antonio section of NCJW, together with Temple Beth El, Temple Beth El Sisterhood, and the Women for Reform Judaism, will offer a Lunch & Learn session immediately following Shabbat services on Saturday, February 18 at 12 pm.
Rabbi Marina Yergin will speak about the Torah portion as it relates to reproductive rights. Laura Terrill, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of South Texas, and her staff will share an engaging presentation on “De-Stigmatizing Abortion”.
Please join us (registration link below) even if you are unable to attend services or do not plan to order lunch.
