Celebrated Authors and Speakers at the JCC in October
October 1, 2021
American Fiction Awards Finalist, Bob Abelman will be talking about his award-winning book, on October 14 at 1 pm at the Barshop JCC. “Laugh out loud funny” is what reviewers are saying about Bob Abelman’s new behind-the-curtain novella “All The World’s A Stage Fright,” about a theater critic for a Jewish newspaper who takes an acting role in a professional production of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” in order to write about the experience. One man’s personal battle with the Bard becomes the narrative of this fun, fictionalized memoir.
“Politics, Prophets, and Priests: A History of Judaism in the Second Temple Period,” which begins September 30, is an in-person 8 week course that examines how Judaism took shape throughout the Second Temple Period. Instructed by Associate Professor of Theology Dr. Sara Ronis, whose book “Demons in the Details: Demonic Discourse and Rabbinic Culture in the Babylonian Talmud”, will release Spring, 2022.
Admission to Schwartz and Abelman is free with advanced registration at www.jccsanantonio.org/authorspeaker/. Author events will be held in person with the most guest speakers joining via Zoom unless otherwise noted. Registration for Politics, Prophets, and Priests may be found on jccsanantonio.org under Adult Enrichment.
