Congregation Shalom Adult Learning to Begin in October

October 3, 2022

Beginner Hebrew classes at Congregation Shalom begin on October 19 and continue through December 28, from 6-7 PM each Wednesday. They will focus on Hebrew reading and assume no prior experience with Hebrew. Starting with the Hebrew letters and vowels, by the end of the twelve sessions, with practice, students will be able to read words, simple blessings, and prayers. This class will be taught over Zoom by Rabbi Lisa Goldstein using the textbook Aleph Isn’t Tough, which can be purchased from BehrmanHouse.com or Amazon.com. The course is free for Congregation Shalom members and $72 for non-members.

“Digging Deeper: An Introduction to Judaism, Part Two,” a course of eight weekly sessions, begins on November 2, and runs through December 21, each Wednesday from 7:30-9 PM. Part one of Intro to Judaism focused primarily on the “whats;” this class will explore the “whys” behind them, taking a deeper dive into Torah Study, theology, Israel, and Jewish customs and practices. Also taught over Zoom by Rabbi Lisa Goldstein, the course is free to Congregation Shalom members and $72 for non-members.
