New Jewish congregation, Congregation Shalom, receives state charter

Congregation Shalom of San Antonio received its charter from the State of Texas and is up and running with the following founding members:

Gerald Adcock and Christine Vidouria, Lisa Boggs, Jesse Castro and Rachel Gray-Castro, Wendy and Stan Drezek, Dawn Elmore and Matthew Kordelski, Adam and Christina Falkiewicz, Lisa and Maury Goldstein, Adele Herzstein, Rodney Hudson, Kathi Kardon, Ron and Gayle Kipp, Bob and Lee Markman, Denes and Dorothy Marton, Rob and Marianne Salzman, Stephen Samet, David Shane, Barbara Silverstein, April Singer and Laurentiu Popa, Sondra Singer, Marga Speicher, Mike and Barbara Stern, Dr. Richard Usatine, and Sue Weintraub.

Together, in the last couple of months, the congregation has celebrated Pesach with an interactive second night Seder; held meetings to determine their vision, by-laws, and goals; participated in weekly Zoom Shabbat services and Kesher (children’s education); and kvelled as Aliyah Popa, Andrew Adcock-Vidouria, and Cora Skoog all became b’nai mitzvah.
