J-LEV Kicks Off First Cohort
December 1, 2021
The Young Adult Division (YAD) of the Jewish Federation has launched its first year of the 8-month leadership development program, J-LEV, for emerging Jewish leaders in San Antonio. The program is designed to help ensure the future vitality of the San Antonio Jewish community. J-LEV provides an educational platform in which the participants will advance their leadership skills, deepen their knowledge of the Jewish agencies in San Antonio, and put those skills into action! The first session kicked off Wednesday, October 20th with special guest speaker, the Federation’s very own Board President, Michael Swanson. Michael was able to share his leadership experience in the San Antonio Jewish community and offer insight into his role as JFSA’s Board President.
The second session of J-LEV took place on November 17th first began with an intimate discussion with the CEO of the Barshop JCC, Saul Levenshus. Saul provided the J-LEV participants a look into how the Barshop JCC has continued to be so successful in its programs and membership, despite the unfortunate Covid effects felt by so many. Later that evening, J-LEV was extended the special invitation to attend the Two-Year Celebration of the Life and Legacy initiative, led by Director of Philanthropy, Beth Keough. The J-LEV participants heard from the guest speaker of the evening, Rabbi Daniel Cohen, popular motivator, mentor, and inspirational speaker. J-LEV finished out their second session with Rabbi Cohen as a guest in their session.
