Megastar Noa Tishby to Headline First-Ever JNF-USA Breakfast for Israel in San Antonio

August 4, 2022

The land of Israel is “the most misunderstood country on earth,” according to Israeli actress, producer, and author, Noa Tishby, who was recently named the Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism & the Delegitimization of Israel by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 8:00 am CT, the “positively Israel” celebrity will be headlining Jewish National Fund-USA’s inaugural Breakfast for Israel in San Antonio, where she will address topics including Israel advocacy; connecting the next generation to the land of Israel; her book, Israel, A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth; and her career in the entertainment industry.

In addition to her revered book, Tishby is perhaps best known for co-producing HBO’s 12-time Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated, and Peabody Award-winning drama, In Treatment. The Hollywood star, a member of Jewish National Fund-USA’s Arts & Entertainment Task Force, was also recently recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Jews in the World by the Jerusalem Post.

“We are experiencing a complete breakdown in Jewish education when it comes to Israel,” Tishby said in a recent interview in Jewish National Fund-USA’s B’Yachad magazine. “We are doing an incredible job of giving a beautiful Jewish education when it comes to values and traditions, but we fail when it comes to talking about Israel and its thorny issues.”

As a UNESCO-certified, apolitical NGO focused on the philanthropic support of Israel, Jewish National Fund-USA has found a valuable partner in Tishby as a Zionist committed to educating our supporters and the next generation about Israel while being candid about its challenges.

“We look at claims against Israel, such as that Israel is an “apartheid” state, as fake news, and rightly so,” Tishby added. “But then we don’t discuss these claims with our children. This is a big mistake because they end up completely unprepared when they get to college…We need to directly address the lies, fake concepts, and words they may face before hearing it from someone else.”

Jewish National Fund-USA’s Breakfast for Israel is a complimentary community event that has been hosted by the organization nationwide over the last decade. The upscale events feature high-caliber speakers, as well as entertaining, impactful programming that captivates the audience while celebrating Israel and educating attendees about its vision to ensure a strong, secure, and prosperous future for the land and people of Israel. The Breakfast in San Antonio will take place at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus of the San Antonio Jewish Community.

“In addition to hearing from one of the most sought-after keynote speakers in the country, our program in San Antonio will highlight Jewish National Fund-USA’s visionary philanthropic work that is attracting 800,000 residents to the country’s Negev and Galilee regions, while working in seven strategic areas to build a prosperous Israel for future generations,” said Shirley Katzman, Event Chair. “I’m honored to host JNF-USA’s first Breakfast for Israel in San Antonio and to invite our local community members to join me for this important event. JNF-USA’s work is innovative and exciting, and there is something for everyone within our vision. I can’t wait to see what people take away from our meaningful event!”
