NCJW donates diapers and wipes to Center for Refugees at Diaper Drive-By

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) has continued their efforts to help the Center for Refugees in spite of COVID-19. Rather than collecting diapers and baby wipes at events, NCJW held a Diaper Drive-By in the JCC parking lot in August. More than 40 members donated 4,775 diapers and 2,400 wipes for refugee families with young children at the center.  The Diaper Drive-By was co-chaired by Ruthie Wurzburg and Dana Bisnov.

These refugees are among the most vulnerable populations, fleeing ethnic and religious prosecution. Refugees at the center had to leave their countries because of their roles providing assistance to the U.S. military in Afghanistan and Iraq. They have special immigrant Visas, but many have lost their jobs during the pandemic.

“We were thrilled to see so many members coming out and participating in our Diaper Drive-By. We collected enough diapers and wipes to provide the center with a three-month supply,” said event co-chair Ruthie Wurzburg.  “NCJW is committed to social justice by improving the lives of women, families and children, and our donations are making a difference for these families.”
