Our Community Response to the Government Shutdown

NOVEMBER 6, 2025 –
As our city faces the challenges of a government shutdown, the Jewish community of San Antonio is quietly showing up in powerful ways. From synagogues to service agencies, each is doing its part to care for our neighbors — collecting food, financial assistance, and critical support where it’s needed most.
If you can help, please help. If you are in need, please see the resources listed below — your community is here for you.
How you can help:
Donate to the San Antonio Food Bank:
All San Antonio synagogues and the Campus have volunteered to be Food Collection sites for the San Antonio Food Bank. To donate, simply stop by one of the locations below with your donation, and drop it in the bright red bin. Not sure what to donate? Check out this poster from the Food Bank with their 12 most needed items.
Urge Congress to Protect SNAP
Using the link here, you can send an action alert to your representative in Congress, asking them to protect SNAP benefits and help those in need.
Help JFS Fight Hunger
Help families directly by donating funds to Jewish Family Service’s initiative. Through this initiative, families receive up to two weeks of food.
