The JCC Main Event is Back

November 1, 2022

The Barshop JCC’s annual fall fundraiser, The Main Event, will take place Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the JCC.  Co-chaired by Alex Train and Ryan Reed, the goal of the event is three-fold: First, to bring our community together for an evening filled with great food, fun, and entertainment. Second, to generate funds that will directly benefit services to children & youth, seniors, individuals with special needs, and individuals and families in need of financial assistance, through the Walter and Reba Viner Charitable Fund. And to honor some of our most dedicated and deserving JCC and Community leaders.

This year’s Main Event honorees are Danna Halff and Marc Schnall for their ongoing and unwavering leadership and support of the JCC, Jewish Federation, and countless local agencies and causes, including Temple Beth-El and Congregation Agudas Achim, respectively. Simultaneously, the Jewish Federation of San Antonio will also be acknowledged for its extraordinary efforts these past two years in helping our community navigate the unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic.

“Appropriately, our theme this year is, ‘TOGETHER WE SHINE’, because it not only reinforces the efforts of our three amazing honorees but also highlights how important it has been for each of us to pull together in support of one another and our community,” said Saul Levenshus, JCC CEO.

The event will include music, casino games, and food and drink provided by local purveyors, including, but not limited to, Fork and Garden Catering, H-E-B, Linda Wolfe Catering, Max and Louie’s, and Myron’s Prime Steakhouse.  All food will be prepared under Kosher supervision.

In conjunction with the event, an online auction is now open at Items are available for purchase and bidding, with more continuously added each day leading up to the event. Bidders are required to register with a credit card to bid and purchase items. The auction will close the evening of the event.
