The Latest From YAD

February 1, 2022

Federation’s J-LEV program met for its 4th session last month. This past session featured SAJSS (San Antonio Jewish Senior Services) CEO, Stacey Klein-Schwartz, and Board Chair, Alvin Loewenberg, who explained the amazing work SAJSS does for those who are 60+ in our community.  The impact of Stacey and Alvin’s words resonated with J-LEV participants, as they discussed how the next generation of young adults can engage with Jewish seniors through volunteer opportunities like challah deliveries and wellness calls.

The Young Adult Division (YAD) had its first committee meeting in January after officially welcoming its nine new members. The meeting, held virtually, focused on future program planning in alignment with YAD’s mission, “To prepare the future leaders of Jewish San Antonio for active and engaged leadership roles guided by Jewish values, ensuring a vibrant and financially stable Jewish community for generations to come.”

The next YAD event, “Make Your Impact: Where does my $ go when I give?” will take place on February 23rd at The Well, and will showcase the impact young adults make through their meaningful philanthropic giving to the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign. This event will feature Nammie Ichilov, President & CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio, live music by Johnny Krigel, and vegetarian nosh! There is a couvert of $36, however, those who bring at least 3 wish list items to donate to Clarity Child Guidance Center, a nonprofit mental health treatment center for kids ages 3-17, will have access to a discounted couvert of $18.
