Barshop JCC holds Annual Meeting

On Wednesday, May 26, the Barshop Jewish Community Center held its Annual Meeting to install officers for the coming year, present annual awards and provide a “State of the J” report.

Installed as officers to serve a new, 1-year term were:

Chairman of the Board: Leslie Hyman

Vice Chair/Chair-Elect: Rhonda Grimm

Vice Chair: Jeff Siegel

Vice Chair: Michael Rosenberg

Treasurer: Alan Ross

Secretary: Ava Weinstein

Immediate Past Chair: Adam Zeldes

Additionally, Jim Barshop, Howard Kasanoff, Jonathan Magid, and Kerry Sonsino will each serve a new, 3-year term while Gal Shweiki will serve a new, 1-year term. Also recognized were outgoing Board members Andy Jacobson, Dena Valdez and Mary Weiner.

The JCC 2021 Annual Awards were also presented to the following recipients:

Ephriam Charninsky Award (Leader of the Year) – Jeff Siegel

Charlie Pearl Award (Volunteer of the Year) – Jerry Gerson

Frank Lichtenstein Award (Program of the Year) – JCC Early Childhood and Sports & Fitness Programs

Gloria Seitzman Award (Staff of the Year) – Betsy Cowan & Elie Allen

Weldon C. Place Award (Sports and Fitness Achievement) – Anna Kurz

William Alter Award (Emerging Leadership) – Kerry Sonsino & Ryan Reed

Roselle Smith Award (BBYO Youth Leadership) – Bailey Eichelbaum & Jacob Perry
