Celebrate Hanukkah with PJ Library

November 15, 2021

On Sunday, November 28, families are invited to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with us at SeaWorld. We will light the Hanukkiah at 5 pm with the help of special friends. There will be a fun Hanukkah craft, too. The first 50 tickets purchased will be sold at a special rate of $36. Once the 50 tickets are claimed, you will be able to purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $47. Guests may enjoy the park from 1:00-9:00 pm.

The Jewish Federation of San Antonio’s PJ Library program will be hosting a Hanukkah concert for families with young children at San Antonio’s historic Estancia del Norte, on the 3rd night of Hannukah, Tuesday, November 30th, beginning at 5:30 pm.

Presidian Hotels & Resorts CEO, Charles Leddy, secured a beautiful 9 ft Hanukkah menorah (candelabra) in the dedication to the holiday and this inaugural event. Leddy shared that, “Kelly and I are honored to have this opportunity to work with the Jewish Federation to host the first annual menorah lighting at Estancia del Norte. My dream for the Estancia del Norte is to be a venue that is embraced as part of the authentic fabric of the San Antonio community, where we can celebrate all the diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious groups that make San Antonio such a special place. This menorah lighting event is an opportunity for us to celebrate our San Antonio Jewish community.”

Elsa Barshop, local Jewish community leader and great-grandmother of two PJ Library recipients, has generously underwritten the associated costs to invite national singer and entertainer Jason Mesches. Mesches incorporates dancing, singing, and lots of energy to engage both children and adults. His goal is to create fun and educational music for Jewish families.

Families are encouraged to bring their outdoor blankets and arrive anytime after 5:30 pm to secure their courtyard space, as well as to have the opportunity to have complimentary professional photographs taken in front of the menorah by The Life in Art Photography photographer, Joe Hernandez. Additional opportunities to have family photographs taken will be available following the concert. The lighting of the Hanukkah Menorah will occur at 6 pm immediately followed by the concert.

Local Jewish families with young children are invited to join the PJ Library families for this unique free Hanukkah celebration. Children are encouraged to wear their PJs to the event, where they will also receive a personal gift bag filled with Hanukkah goodies and be offered kosher hot chocolate and cookies.
